Safety Assessment
Powerhouse’s engineering partner, Engsolve, carried out a review of the output of an audit into “dead-legs” in natural gas pipelines of a major paper-making company.
It generated required actions to be taken and provided any necessary calculations and recommendations along with undertaking a Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) review and updating the facility process & instrumentation diagrams.
Engsolve undertook a site survey of the natural gas lines prior to reviewing the client’s own survey and observations. The Engsolve survey was then compared with the client’s survey and gaps / inconsistencies investigated. An action plan was then put in place to mitigate the issues noted.
The work resulted in several dead legs being identified and removed, and liaison carried out with the grid gas provider regarding protection of the incoming main. In addition several procedures were developed for the client to close gaps in their current systems.
